Animal health

Animal health and biosecurity are some of the great attributes of the Brazilian chicken meat. In Brazil, the use of hormones is strictly prohibited in poultry farming and the production is subject to rigorous control of residues under the scope of the National Control Plan of Residues and Contaminants from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply.

Additionally, Brazil has never had a single case of high pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1), thanks to the rigid controls established by the National Plan for Prevention of Avian Influenza and Control and Prevention of Newcastle Disease, also from the Ministry of Agriculture, and for the endless efforts of companies in the poultry sector to guarantee the safety of the flocks.
